In the state of Alabama, as well as across the United States, the records of a youthful sex offender are sealed; and childrens safety is at risk. In the spring of 2008, Sharon wrote a letter to the State Attorney General Troy King of Alabama. In the letter, Sharon expressed her concern of these youthful sex offenders having their records sealed. The other crimes that a youth commits, should be sealed because people do deserve a second chance. However, at this time, it is possible for a 15 year old to rape a child and the records be kept sealed, and then this person get a teaching degree, and go to work in the public school system. A rapist teaching children!
In December of 2008 the Deputy Attorney General Rushing Payne, contacted Sharon to let her know that her letter had reached Troy King's desk. A bill has been written based on her letter, which would make public knowledge, the sex crimes that a youth commits. This bill also requires that these youthful sex offenders be on the "National Sex Offender" web-site.
This bill will go before the Legislature in the first legislative session, which starts in Febuary 2009. Please be in prayer for Sharon, and our government leaders, and pray that this bill will be passed into a state law.
Once this bill is passed in Alabama, Sharon plans to pursue this bill being passed in every state across the United States.
As soon as possible, the bill number will be posted on this web-site, so you can call your State Senators and ask them to pass this bill into a state law.
